"Other Horse" Nomination Support

Overview

When a class requires you to nominate a horse, you can enter an unregistered or borrowed horse by name — handy when you're competing on a leased or borrowed horse, or one you haven't added to your Horsify profile yet. You'll be asked for its name, breed and sex.

Who Should Use This Feature

Perfect For

  • Riders competing on borrowed or leased horses that aren't in their Horsify account
  • Young riders using a club horse for a competition
  • Trainers entering students on horses they manage but haven't added to Horsify yet

Prerequisites

How It Works

When you select a class that requires a horse nomination:

  1. Your registered horses are shown as selectable options.
  2. At the bottom of the picker, an Other option appears.
  3. Selecting Other reveals three fields, and all three are required:
Field Required Description
Horse Name Yes The name of the unregistered horse
Breed Yes Horse's breed, in your own words (e.g. "Warmblood", "Thoroughbred", "Stock Horse")
Sex Yes Chosen from a list — Mare, Stallion, Gelding or Unknown

All three are needed before you can continue. If you leave the breed blank or don't pick a sex, the class stays incomplete and checkout won't accept the entry. Pick Unknown for the sex if you're entering on a borrowed horse and genuinely don't know.

The details you enter are recorded against your registration, just like a registered horse would be, and appear on your confirmation.

An "other horse" is just text. Because it isn't a horse profile in your account, it carries none of the things a registered horse brings with it — no society registration numbers to auto-fill, no vaccination or health records, and nothing saved for next time. If you'll be competing on the horse regularly, it's worth adding it to My Horses properly.

Organisers can also record an "other horse" on your behalf when they add or amend an entry, so a phone or paper entry on a borrowed horse is handled the same way.

How to Use

  1. Go to the event registration page.
  2. Select your competition class.
  3. In the Horse Nomination section, your registered horses are listed.
  4. If your horse isn't listed, select Other.
  5. Enter the horse's name and breed, and choose its sex from the list. All three are required.
  6. Continue checkout — the details are saved with your entry.
