Push Notifications

Overview

Push notifications let Horsify reach you when something happens — a result posted, a payment taken, a care task falling due — without you having to open the app and look.

Turn them on once per device, from Preferences. Every notification also appears in the in-app notification bell, so nothing is lost if push is off.

How to Use

Turning Push On

  1. Go to Preferences (/preferences)
  2. Under Push Notifications, switch on Enable push notifications
  3. Allow notifications when your browser or phone asks
  4. Use Send test notification to confirm it works

On an iPhone or iPad

Apple only delivers web push to an app that has been added to the home screen. If you're using Horsify in Safari on iOS, the settings panel tells you so and walks you through it: tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen, then open Horsify from that icon and turn push on there.

You only need to do this once per device.

Turning It Off

Switch the same toggle off. That unsubscribes the device you're using — each phone, tablet and computer is turned on and off separately from that device.

Looking for control over which events you hear about? That's a different feature. Event Alerts on your Rider Dashboard let you choose location, distance, disciplines and how often — see Event Alerts Near You. Email preferences live in your rider profile under Communication Preferences.

Where Push Works

  • Chrome, Firefox and Edge — on computers and Android, no extra steps
  • Safari on a Mac — supported on current versions
  • iPhone and iPad — only once Horsify is added to the home screen (see above)
  • The Horsify app — push is delivered through the app itself

If your browser or device can't do push at all, the settings panel says so rather than offering a switch that wouldn't work.

Privacy & Security

  • Web push is encrypted end to end between Horsify and your browser's push service, using the keys your browser generates when you subscribe
  • You can turn push off from any device at any time, which unsubscribes that device
  • Notifications respect your preferences

The notification's title and message travel in the push itself, so they can appear on a lock screen like any other notification. Bear that in mind on a shared or work device — nothing sensitive is sent, but a result or a booking reminder will be readable without unlocking.

Your Notification List

The bell and the full list at /notifications show everything sent to you, in one list, newest first. That includes your own rider notices and the notices from every club you help run. If you're an admin of two clubs, or you ride at one club and coach at another, you don't need to switch clubs to find a notification you were pushed.

Mark all as read clears the whole list, and the unread badge on the bell clears straight away.

Tapping a notification

A notification about a club opens on that club, not on whichever club you last had selected. For example:

  • Payment received opens the payments list for the club that was paid
  • A membership application opens that club's applications
  • A cancellation request opens that club's pending cancellations
  • A helper declining a job opens the helper roster for that event
  • A work task, or a published roster, opens your own week or day on My day
  • Card payment confirmed (for riders) opens your registration

The link only chooses which of your own clubs to show. It never opens a club you don't already have access to.

Who hears about a club's horses

Maintenance reminders for a riding school's own horses, such as shoeing falling due, go to that club's active admins and organisers only, not to its riders.

Where to Find Things

  • Notification bell — in the header, with a badge for unread items
  • Notification centre — the panel behind the bell, and the full list at /notifications
  • Push settings — Preferences (/preferences)
