Watch: Activity Tracking in 55 seconds
▶ Watch the 55-second walkthrough
Overview
Activity Tracking is your horse's training diary. Every ride, lunge, lesson, competition run and deliberate day off goes in the log, and everything you see — weekly minutes, load balance, streaks, "days since last worked" — is worked out from that log. Correct a session and every figure corrects itself.
There are three ways to log work, and they all end up in the same diary:
- The quick logger on a horse's workload page — three taps for the common case.
- The Care Assistant, in words: "rode Biscuit for 45 minutes in the arena" — in the app or by SMS.
- Event days, automatically — register your horse for an event and the competition day logs itself from the published schedule.
Where it lives
- My Horses — a Log work button on every horse you own.
- Workload in the rider menu — the whole-stable board, ordered by who needs attention.
- Each horse's own workload page — figures, charts, the quick logger and the full log.
Logging a session — three taps
On the horse's workload page, Log a session asks only what you can answer standing in the yard:
- What — Flatwork, Hack, Pole work, Jumping, Lesson, Lunge, Groundwork, Conditioning, Rest day and more.
- How long — tap 15 / 20 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90, or type a number.
- How hard — Easy, Steady, Hard or Maximal.
Tap Log it and you're done. Everything else — surface, distance, gait split, jump efforts, how the horse felt, gear, notes — is optional behind Add detail.
Rest days count. Logging a deliberate day off keeps your streak alive — the habit that's rewarded is keeping the diary, not working the horse every day.
Event days log themselves
When you register your horse for an event and the organiser publishes the running order, Horsify derives the competition day for you overnight: warm-up and cool-down plus your runs, based on the hardest discipline your horse did that day.
The derived session appears in the log marked "Is this right?" with three buttons — That's right, Fix, or Didn't happen. It already counts towards the horse's week either way, because the horse did the work whether or not anyone confirms a form. If you'd already logged that day yourself, nothing is added — your entry wins.
Logging by text
The Care Assistant logs work too, in the same conversation that handles farrier reminders and the feed shed. In the app, or — if your mobile is verified on your rider profile — by SMS to the Horsify number, +61 461 317 073:
- "rode Biscuit 45 mins in the arena"
- "lunged Bella 20 mins in the round yard"
- "Comet had the day off"
- WORK Biscuit 45 — the short form
- WORKLOAD Biscuit — asks what she's done this week (never writes anything)
Unlike care completions, a logged ride never asks you to confirm — it applies straight away and tells you exactly what it assumed. A wrong session costs one tap to delete.
Reading the figures
- This week — total minutes and sessions, next to an average-week figure from the last four weeks so you can see them side by side.
- Load balance — whether this week is winding down, balanced, ramping up, or spiking against the last month. It stays quiet until there's two weeks of history — a ratio over four days of data would describe when you started logging, not the horse.
- Streaks — consecutive days with any entry, rest days included.
Twenty minutes of hard gallop counts for more than an hour of walking — duration and effort are weighed together, so the figures reflect work, not just time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to fill in every field? No — date, type and duration are all that's required, and the date defaults to today. Everything else is optional.
What if the derived event day is wrong? Tap Fix to adjust it or Didn't happen to remove it. A session you removed is never re-created.
Can someone else's rides show up? Activity tracking covers horses you own. There's a "ridden by" field if someone else rode your horse.
Will Horsify nag me to log? No. You may get the occasional encouragement — a first session, a streak milestone, a personal-best week — but never a message after every log, and a caution only if a horse's load spikes.
