Overview
Venue Facilities allows organisers and venue managers to document the individual facilities available at an equestrian venue — arenas, stables, yards, wash bays, campgrounds, and more. Recent enhancements add a description field per facility, a community comments section on the public venue page, a Property Identification Code (PIC) field for biosecurity compliance, and stabilised image URLs via API response caching.
Who Uses This
- Venue Managers: Document and maintain accurate facility information
- Organisers: Reference facility details when creating events at a venue
- Riders & Participants: Read facility descriptions and community comments before attending an event
- Admins: Manage venue records and PIC codes for compliance
Facility Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Facility name (e.g., "Main Arena", "Night Stables Block A") |
| Type | Category: Arena, Stable, Yard, Wash Bay, Campsite, Other |
| Description | Free-text description of the facility — dimensions, surface type, capacity, notes |
Photos are managed at the venue level rather than per facility. Use the venue's images to show what the site looks like.
Community Comments
Each facility on the public venue page now includes a community comments section. Riders and visitors can leave notes about their experience — useful for flagging access issues, confirming facility details, or sharing tips with other competitors.
Comments are moderated and visible to all logged-in Horsify users.
Property Identification Code (PIC)
The PIC field is a venue-level field that records the Australian government-issued Property Identification Code for livestock properties. This supports:
- Biosecurity compliance when horses arrive at a venue
- Livestock movement tracking under relevant state regulations
- Matching venues when event data is imported from scanned paper forms
To set the PIC, navigate to Venues → Edit Venue and enter the code in the PIC field.
Image Caching
Venue API responses are now cached server-side. This means:
- Image URLs remain stable across multiple page loads
- Browsers can cache venue images for faster subsequent views
- Reduced blob storage API calls for frequently visited venue pages
How to Add or Edit Facilities
- Navigate to Venues in the organiser dashboard
- Select the venue to edit
- Open the Facilities tab
- Click Add Facility or select an existing facility to edit
- Fill in the Name, Type, and Description fields
- Click Save
To set the venue PIC, use the Edit Venue form (top-level venue fields).\n\n---\n\nSource: wiki/features/VENUE_FACILITIES.md \nLast synced: 2026-09-07 11:49:56 UTC
