Overview
When a class requires you to nominate a horse, you can enter an unregistered or borrowed horse by name — handy when you're competing on a leased or borrowed horse, or one you haven't added to your Horsify profile yet. You can also add its breed and sex.
Who Should Use This Feature
Perfect For
- Riders competing on borrowed or leased horses that aren't in their Horsify account
- Young riders using a club horse for a competition
- Trainers entering students on horses they manage but haven't added to Horsify yet
Prerequisites
- The event's class must require horse nomination (see Competition Class Horse Nominations)
- You must be signed in during checkout
How It Works
When you select a class that requires a horse nomination:
- Your registered horses are shown as selectable options.
- At the bottom of the picker, an Other Horse option appears.
- Selecting Other Horse reveals free-text fields:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Horse Name | Yes | The name of the unregistered horse |
| Breed | Optional | Horse's breed (e.g. "Warmblood", "Thoroughbred") |
| Sex | Optional | Horse's sex (e.g. "Mare", "Gelding", "Stallion") |
The details you enter are recorded against your registration, just like a registered horse would be, and appear on your confirmation.
How to Use
- Go to the event registration page.
- Select your competition class.
- In the Horse Nomination section, your registered horses are listed.
- If your horse isn't listed, select Other Horse.
- Enter the horse's name (required), and optionally its breed and sex.
- Continue checkout — the details are saved with your entry.
