Overview
A new Checkbox Group field type is available in the Entry Form Builder and membership application form designer. This field type renders as a group of checkboxes, allowing participants to select multiple options from a predefined list. It is ideal for collecting volunteer preferences, dietary requirements, multi-select interests, or any scenario where more than one option can apply simultaneously.
Who Should Use This Feature
Perfect For
- Event organisers collecting volunteer shift preferences ("Morning", "Afternoon", "Evening")
- Riding clubs gathering dietary or accommodation preferences for multi-day events
- Associations allowing members to select multiple interest areas during applications
Prerequisites
- You must be an admin of your organisation
- Your organisation must have access to the Entry Form Builder or Membership Application Form Designer
Key Features
☑️ Multi-Select Checkboxes
Unlike a radio button or dropdown (single select), a Checkbox Group allows participants to check any combination of options:
- Each option appears as a labelled checkbox
- Zero or more options can be selected
- All selected values are stored together in the participant's form response
⚙️ Configurable Options
When adding a Checkbox Group field in the form builder:
- Enter the field label (e.g., "Volunteer Shift Preferences")
- Add as many options as needed (e.g., "Gate Duty", "Score Processing", "Warm-up Arena")
- Set whether the field is required (at least one must be checked)
- Set an optional helper text to guide participants
📊 Responses in Entry List & Exports
Checkbox Group responses appear in:
- The Entry List grid as a comma-separated list of selected values
- Excel exports with all selected options in a single cell
- PDF receipts listing the selections under "Additional Information"
